Their plight has finally ended with the completion of a new water supply system funded by the **"Satul European"** (European Village) program.

**From Struggle to Relief:**

*"Carrying water for everything was hard,"* shared 70-year-old Silvia Strechie, echoing the village's struggles. *"Muddy well water wasn't safe to drink, and buying water was costly."* But now, thanks to the 17-kilometre pipeline project, *"water flows right at home,"* bringing immense relief to Strechie and the 1,200 other villagers.

**Beyond Homes: Empowering Institutions:**

The new system extends beyond households, benefiting six public institutions, ensuring reliable water access for essential services. *"Washing machines? Now a reality!"* exclaimed one resident, highlighting the improved daily life.

**"Satul European" Delivers Change:**

This project falls under the *"Satul European"* program, aiming to revamp rural life in Moldova. Funded by the National Fund for Regional and Local Development, it has already brought water and sewage networks to 64 villages.

*"No more unsafe water from distant sources,"* declared Mayor Oleg Rozimovschi, acknowledging the program's impact. *"This project significantly improves our residents' lives."*

**Looking Ahead:**

With the Dărcăuți project completed at a cost of nearly 10 million lei, *"Satul European"* continues its mission. The deadline for all program projects has been extended to June 2024, aiming to bring similar transformations to more rural communities.
