The Interfax agency, cited by [Reuters](https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/russian-military-helicopter-crashes-kaluga-region-crew-dead-interfax-says-2024-07-25/), reports that the crew did not survive the incident. The helicopter came down near the village of Klenki in a forested area, as reported by Alexander Baribin, the head of the Zhizdrinsky district.

Russian authorities suggest that a technical malfunction was likely the cause of the crash. While the Russian military has not specified the number of people on board, it is customary for a Mi-28 helicopter to have a crew of two.

An operational team, rescuers, and a commission from the Russian Air Force are currently at the accident site, as reported by Russian state media.
