# Moldovan robotics teams face final test ahead of FIRST Tech Challenge

> Twenty robotics teams from across Moldova gathered for the second edition of the "RoboRangers Cup Last Call," a high-stakes demonstration event designed to test mechanical precision and strategic coding. The competition served as the final technical rehearsal before the prestigious FIRST Tech Challenge, scheduled for February 21–22.

Twenty robotics teams from across Moldova gathered for the second edition of the "RoboRangers Cup Last Call," a high-stakes demonstration event designed to test mechanical precision and strategic coding. The competition served as the final technical rehearsal before the prestigious FIRST Tech Challenge, scheduled for February 21–22.

The event concluded with four finalist teams receiving performance grants ranging from €357 (approx. 7,000 MDL) to €765 (approx. 15,000 MDL). These funds are earmarked for technical upgrades as teams transition from regional qualifiers to international standards.

For participants like Denis Dragnea from the Cahul-based team, the focus was on refining specialized mechanisms. Dragnea showcased a robot capable of launching projectiles with over 50% accuracy, a feat achieved through multiple design iterations inspired by both local and international engineering models.

Innovation was also visible in the hardware evolution of the Ungheni team. Representative Sergiu Alcaz presented a functional wooden prototype, noting that the team is already migrating the design to a metal chassis. Their ultimate goal is to secure a spot at the World Championships later this year.

Organizers emphasized that while the event remains unofficial, it provides a critical "sandbox" for debugging autonomous programs and stress-testing hardware. According to organizer Florin Cazac, the primary objective is to bridge the gap between amateur builds and the rigorous requirements of global robotics circuits.
