# Pashinyan leads in Armenia election test

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party took an early lead in Sunday’s legislative elections. The vote serves as a crucial test of public support for Yerevan’s strategic foreign policy shift toward the West.

Officials reported a final voter turnout of 59% when polling stations closed at 20:00 on June 7, according to the Central Electoral Commission.

**Election results**

Initial data from 1,354 out of 2,005 polling stations shows Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party capturing 434,562 votes, representing 50.83% of the ballot.

The Strong Armenia bloc, led by Russian-Armenian billionaire Samvel Karapetyan, currently holds second place with 23.51% of the vote.

The Armenia Alliance, led by former President Robert Kocharyan, stands in third place with 9.47%. Remaining political contenders captured between 0.1% and 4.1% of the vote, local news agency Armenpress reported.
