# Chemotherapy services expand in Anenii Noi and Soroca hospitals 

> More than 400 cancer patients from various districts have already benefited from nearly 600 chemotherapy treatments offered closer to home. As of August 3, the network is expanding. The district hospitals in Anenii Noi and Soroca will now serve as the newest medical facilities where eligible patients can receive cancer treatment without the need to travel to Chisinau.

More than 400 cancer patients from various districts have already benefited from nearly 600 chemotherapy treatments offered closer to home. As of August 3, the network is expanding. The district hospitals in Anenii Noi and Soroca will now serve as the newest medical facilities where eligible patients can receive cancer treatment without the need to travel to Chisinau.

The initiative is part of a national program implemented by the Ministry of Health and the Oncology Institute, aimed at reducing the physical and financial burden on patients while ensuring the highest standards of medical safety.

“*For an oncology patient, every journey adds extra time, cost, and fatigue during an already challenging period. We are bringing treatment closer to people while maintaining the highest levels of medical decision-making, supervision, and safety standards. We are not just relocating medical services; we are genuinely alleviating the burden on patients and their families*,” stated Alexandru Gasnaș, Minister of Health.

**How the procedure works and patient guarantees**

The treatment plan and medical decisions will continue to be made by the Multidisciplinary Council at the Oncological Institute. In district hospitals, only chemotherapy courses that can be safely administered in strict accordance with national clinical protocols will be provided.

To prepare for this implementation, oncologists and nurses from Anenii Noi and Soroca have completed training courses on the proper administration of chemotherapy, monitoring patients' health, and effectively managing any adverse reactions.

The program is currently running successfully in the district hospitals of Briceni, Cahul, Florești, Orhei, Sîngerei, and Ștefan Vodă. From August 2025 to June 2026, a total of 432 patients were treated at these six pilot centers, during which 597 chemotherapy courses were administered.

The Ministry of Health has announced plans to gradually expand the model to additional districts across the country, as hospitals are equipped with the necessary technical resources, trained personnel, and safety measures.
