Maia Sandu expressed her gratitude to Ana Revenco for her work and contributions to establishing and consolidating the institution.

"I thank her for the leadership she has provided at the Center and for her role in building this institution. In an unprecedented regional and security context, Mrs. Revenco has laid the foundation for a crucial structure that strengthens the resilience of the Republic of Moldova against disinformation and foreign interference. I appreciate her professionalism and perseverance," the president stated.

Also, the head of state expressed confidence that Liliana Vițu will continue to develop the Center and will help enhance society's ability to tackle challenges in the information space.

Shortly after her appointment was announced, Liliana Vițu shared a message on social media, stating that she accepted President Maia Sandu's invitation to lead the institution "with responsibility."

“The priority of my mandate is to ensure that the institution inspires trust through competence and the ability to inform the public in a timely manner about our efforts to strengthen the unity of the Republic of Moldova,” Vițu wrote.

The new director outlined that her mandate will focus on several key areas. One priority will be to provide clarity by explaining complex information phenomena and the risks they pose to society in an easily understandable way.

Another objective is to enhance collaboration by developing partnerships with state institutions, the media, academia, civil society, and international partners. She also highlighted the importance of anticipation by identifying and communicating potential manipulation campaigns and information vulnerabilities in advance.

“I am confident that, together with the Center’s team, we will be the reference point and support that our society needs to become stronger and more resilient,” added Liliana Vițu.

Liliana Vițu has over 25 years of experience in media and communication. In recent years, she served as the head of the Audiovisual Council, an institution that, according to the Presidency, she aligned with European regulatory standards while focusing on the interests of citizens.

Ana Revenco announced her resignation from the position of director of the Center for Strategic Communication and Countering Disinformation on Tuesday, August 4, citing personal reasons. She had led the institution since its establishment in 2023.
