# Moldovan universities see high demand for 2026 admission cycle

> Thousands of prospective students across Moldova are finalizing their university applications this week, flooding campuses to submit their original documents. Government-subsidized tuition seats remain the most sought-after, sparking intense competition at major institutions.

Thousands of prospective students across Moldova are finalizing their university applications this week, flooding campuses to submit their original documents. Government-subsidized tuition seats remain the most sought-after, sparking intense competition at major institutions.

At the Technical University of Moldova (UTM), all 1,200 available state-funded seats were filled rapidly. An additional 800 applicants have confirmed fee-paying enrollment spots.

*"Applied, advanced electronics. Since childhood, I’ve been drawn to electronics; even college was focused on microelectronics, so I continued on this path,"* explained one applicant confirming his spot.

*"I applied to the Faculty of Urbanism and Architecture, majoring in Interior Design. I was accepted for a tuition-based contract. Since I was little, it has been my dream to become an interior designer," added another candidate.

Admissions officers attribute the surge in engineering and digital programs to shifting market conditions.

*"Every university faculty offers programs needed by industry,"* said Radu Melnic, Secretary of the UTM Admissions Committee. *"There are highly popular programs, but also programs candidates avoided because salaries were lower in those fields. Now we see higher demand for programs like Digital Manufacturing Technologies. This year more applicants came because foreign companies entered the market, salaries in the domain increased, and demand rose accordingly."*

Heavy enrollment traffic was also reported at the *"Ion Creangă"* State Pedagogical University in Chișinău. The institution offered 700 government-funded undergraduate spots, alongside over 1,000 tuition-based seats, 350 of which have already been confirmed by fee payments.

*"I applied to the Faculty of Psychopedagogy, specializing in Psychopedagogy. I really like children,"* shared one female applicant. *"Plus, since the age of 16, I’ve been coaching young children, teaching them swimming, and I want to continue in this field. In the future, I also want my own private kindergarten."*

*"I’ve liked translation-related professions for a long time, and thanks to the *'Ion Creangă'* Pedagogical University, I’ll be able to learn foreign languages. Then, after my master's degree, I can become a translator or perhaps a teacher,"* noted another prospective student.

According to Maria Vîrlan, Secretary of the UPSC Admissions Committee, high applicant interest was recorded across all Arts programs, Psychology, Speech Therapy, and Foreign Languages.

For the 2026–2027 academic year, the 12 public universities operating in the Republic of Moldova offer just over 9,000 state-funded seats across bachelor’s, master’s, residency, and doctoral programs.
