Moldova's Public Property Agency (APP) has extended the application deadline for the privatization of four major state-owned enterprises from August 19 to October 19. The auctions will now take place on October 20.

Government officials delayed the process following a recommendation by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan. The decision aims to give potential buyers sufficient time for asset evaluation and due diligence during the summer recess.

**Prime real estate in central Chișinău**

The cornerstone of the auction list is the Zarea Hotel in central Chișinău, listed at a starting price of €5.41 million (approx. 106 million MDL).

The portfolio also includes the *"Izomer"* experimental chemical enterprise, offering real estate assets suited for re-development, with a starting price of €485,000. Additionally, the state is offering two publishing houses: "Știința" for €321,000 and "Lumina" for €27,000.

**Growing investor interest**

As of August 14, 13 potential investors had expressed interest in the four assets. Five investors inquired about *"Izomer,"* four about the Zarea Hotel, and two each for the publishing companies.

Officials emphasize that the deadline extension will foster a more transparent, competitive bidding process to ensure optimal value for public assets.
