Energocom announced that the Republic of Moldova's electricity needs for August 17 are fully met from a commercial perspective. The company has secured the required volumes to satisfy consumption demands. However, it cautions that energy in regional markets remains costly, particularly during peak hours.

Energocom purchased 9,874 MWh of electricity for Monday, August 17. The majority of this electricity, 67.7%, comes from bilateral contracts, while 27.19% is sourced from renewable energy.

Additionally, 3.8% of the electricity purchased comes from the Day-Ahead Market in Romania, facilitated through OPCOM and the Romanian Commodity Exchange. The remaining 1.31% is supplied by district heating power plants.

Energocom emphasizes that while the Republic of Moldova's energy requirements are met for August 17, the situation in the regional market remains challenging. The company notes that energy prices for imports tend to increase, particularly during periods of high consumption.

*"We urge citizens to continue using electricity wisely, especially between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.,"* the institution stated.

The Republic of Moldova has been on alert in the energy and hydrological sectors since July 28, for 30 days. This situation has arisen due to issues in the oil product supply chains and a significant drop in water levels in the Nistru.

The country's leaders have repeatedly urged citizens to conserve electricity during peak hours, warning that failure to do so may result in power disconnections.
