Finalization works at the Chișinău Electrical Substation, part of the strategic 400 kV Vulcănești–Chișinău overhead power line, have entered their conclusive phase.

Energy ministry representatives convened a coordination meeting this morning to oversee the final interventions required for full system operationalization. The high-voltage line has already been energized up to the Chișinău Substation.

**Grid testing and commercial launch**

Commercial operations will begin immediately following the completion of site testing. Contractors confirmed that testing and energization of the autotransformers and auxiliary infrastructure remain on schedule.

*"The contractor assured us that every effort is being made to complete testing, autotransformer energization, and auxiliary infrastructure within the required deadlines,"* Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu stated.

**Direct access to European electricity**

Authorities emphasize that the Vulcănești–Chișinău line will carry over 50% of Moldova's electricity consumption. Crucially, it enables direct power imports from Romania and the broader European market.

This infrastructure bypasses the Transnistria-based Cuciurgan power plant hub entirely. Officials described the project as the most significant investment in Moldova's power transmission infrastructure in decades.

Five specialized teams comprising around 55 technicians are currently working in two shifts to finish remaining tasks. Prime Minister Vasile Tofan announced that the power line will officially open on August 27, coinciding with Moldova's Independence Day.
