The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Republic of Moldova condemns the massive missile and drone attack that occurred on the night of August 20 against Ukraine, resulting in at least 12 deaths and many injuries.

*"We strongly condemn the massive combined attack with missiles and drones launched overnight against Ukraine, which targeted civilian, energy, railway and logistics infrastructure. Several people were killed and dozens injured,"* reads a message published by the MFA on the X platform.

We remind you that following the massive attack on Kiev during the night of August 20, there are now at least 12 confirmed dead and 33 injured. In response, the Ukrainian authorities have declared Friday, August 21, a day of national mourning in the capital.

On this day, flags will be lowered to half-mast on all municipal buildings. It is also recommended that state flags be lowered to half-mast on both public and private institutions throughout the capital. Additionally, all entertainment events are prohibited in Kyiv on August 21. Efforts to address the aftermath of the attack continue in the Solomiansky, Sviatoshinsky, and Darnytsky districts of the city. As of now, it has been reported that 12 people have lost their lives in Kiev, according to the mayor, Vitali Klitschko, who shared this information on social media.

During the massive airstrikes launched by the Russian Federation on Ukraine last night, a Russian drone crossed the airspace of the Republic of Moldova without authorization. The drone was monitored for six minutes, from 03:16 to 03:22, over the town of Etulia in the Gagauz Autonomous Region.

Surveillance systems of the National Army tracked the drone, preliminarily identified as a Shahed 136 (Geran-2), as it entered national airspace from the Ukrainian town of Cotlovina in the Reni district, moving towards Etulia.

The drone exited the Republic of Moldova's territory at 03:22 and re-entered Ukrainian airspace.

At the same time, another drone entered Romanian airspace, approximately 13 kilometers east of the municipality of Galați. At 03:24, this drone fell roughly four kilometers northeast of the town of Grindu in Tulcea County, landing in an unpopulated area.
