# Moldova probes gas contractors over €204,000 tax fraud

Several natural gas infrastructure companies in Moldova face criminal charges over an alleged €204,000 (approx. 4 million MDL) tax evasion scheme.

Investigators suspect the businesses concealed revenues collected from connecting residential and commercial consumers to the gas distribution grid between 2023 and 2024.

**Alleged accounting manipulation**

According to joint findings by the State Fiscal Service and the specialized anti-organized crime prosecution office (PCCOCS), the targeted firms falsified ledger records regarding operational revenue and expenditure.

The companies reportedly failed to declare full customer payments, allowing them to systematically evade domestic corporate and income taxes.

**Coordinated raids across central and southern regions**

On 17 August, law enforcement officers executed coordinated search warrants across central and southern Moldova.

Raids targeted company headquarters, executive residences, and private vehicles. Officers seized financial records, digital accounting data, and relevant documentation to trace the illicit financial flows.

The criminal investigation remains ongoing to identify all responsible corporate officers and determine the final financial damages.
