According to Olivian Balan, the head of the EcoVoucher implementation unit, this is the sixth session of the program this year, maintained under the same conditions as previous ones. It specifically targets households with minor children, pensioners, and people with severe disabilities. *"If we talk about the current session, which will end on September 13, we are providing support to economic operators as well as beneficiaries who want to use these vouchers but may not know the steps to follow,"* Balan stated in an interview for the “Zi de Zi” program on Radio Moldova. This year, the program has exceeded the 43,000-beneficiary threshold. According to Balan, eligible households can replace older appliances with more energy-efficient models, which can reduce energy consumption and lower bills. In the current session, washing machines in energy efficiency class A and refrigerators in classes A, B, C, and D are eligible for vouchers. The value of an EcoVoucher is 6,000 lei and can cover up to 70% of the equipment's price, excluding VAT. The remaining amount is the responsibility of the beneficiary. *"The voucher is valued at 6,000 lei, covering up to 70% of the price of the equipment before VAT. The beneficiary pays the difference,"* explained Balan. A crucial condition for selection is that the household has submitted a compensation application before the cold season. The EcoVoucher system utilizes data from the compensation platform, and selected individuals are notified via SMS. *"There is no separate procedure to apply for a voucher. The system automatically selects beneficiaries based on approved criteria. However, for a household to be selected, it is important that they submit applications for compensation,"* said Olivian Balan. The selection of beneficiaries is based on several criteria, including household energy consumption, the number of eligible members, and overall income. Thus, the program particularly targets households considered vulnerable in terms of energy usage. Interested individuals can check if they have received a voucher in the dedicated section of their personal cabinet on the compensation platform. Alternatively, they can visit the voucher verification page and input their IDNP, phone number, or email address. Once a voucher is allocated, beneficiaries must be aware of its validity period. The voucher can only be used during the active session. To purchase new equipment, beneficiaries must hand in an old, used device of the same type, which must be photographed. They also need to present their ID at one of the program’s partner stores. Households that have previously received and redeemed a voucher are automatically excluded from the list of potential beneficiaries. Those who received a voucher but did not use it may be considered again after six months, though this does not guarantee issuance of a new voucher. Olivian Balan encourages beneficiaries who have received notifications not to delay in redeeming their vouchers and to reach out for support if they require more information. *"If beneficiaries receive a message or SMS from Gov 1, it is important that they contact us at the toll-free number 080055005, extension 1,"* he advised. Additionally, Balan warns the public to be cautious of potential fraud attempts and not to share personal information with unknown individuals. *"My main message is to be very cautious and to avoid providing personal information to unknown persons. We never ask for personal data; we only provide specific advice,"* Balan said. He also recommends that households carefully fill out compensation applications, ensuring they include accurate contact details, such as phone numbers and email addresses, as well as the names of all household members, since the number of members is a key criterion in selecting beneficiaries. Regarding the possibility of organizing a new EcoVoucher session this year, Olivian Balan indicated that this decision would be made in collaboration with development partners.
