These projects were part of the national programs "European Village," "European Village Express," and "Europe is Close". The state budget funded them through the National Fund for Regional and Local Development (FNDRL). ![](https://storage.moldova1.md/images/c57226d2-f733-41d2-a148-d16c5f32567d.jpg) The investments focused on improving public lighting, water infrastructure, a cultural center, and the rehabilitation of a road section, which has enhanced living conditions for approximately 3,000 local residents, according to a statement from the National Office for Regional and Local Development (ONDRL). The first edition of the "European Village" National Program implemented a key project in Selemet. As part of this initiative, 12.85 kilometers of public lighting infrastructure were constructed, 370 LED lighting fixtures were installed, and 12 new utility poles were erected. As a result, over 1,800 residents, public institutions, and businesses now enjoy safer conditions during the evening and at night. ![](https://storage.moldova1.md/images/a64b4672-85eb-46e5-b506-89af30d1ed3e.jpg) In this project, the state budget allocated over 2 million lei through the FNDRL, while the local public administration contributed 22,790 lei. Another key investment aimed to ensure access to drinking water, addressing one of the community's pressing issues. The situation worsened after a privately operated artesian well broke down, leaving about 40% of the village population without access to household water. As part of the second edition of the "European Village" National Program, two new artesian wells were drilled, and 11.59 kilometers of the water supply network were rehabilitated to resolve this issue. ![](https://storage.moldova1.md/images/6b766c54-11b8-4d85-9263-4c164094fc67.jpg) The state allocated over 8.3 million lei for this investment through the FNDRL, while the local public administration contributed approximately 72,000 lei. Additionally, the state invested in cultural infrastructure. As part of the "European Village Express" program, interior renovation work covering an area of 850 square meters was completed at the Selemet Cultural Multifunctional Center. The team also refurbished three spaces designated for cultural activities. As part of the Government's "Europe is Close" program, approximately 0.6 kilometers of Mihai Eminescu Str., which provides access to the local middle school, were rehabilitated. Rainwater runoff often affected the road, and the works have improved access for the 195 students, 29 staff members, and local residents. The state budget allocated over 2.9 million lei for the street's rehabilitation through the National Fund for Regional and Local Development (FNDRL), while the local public administration contributed approximately 12,500 lei. ![](https://storage.moldova1.md/images/05d85280-9620-4d27-94c1-439e11c1599c.jpg) Tatiana Badan, the mayor of Selemet village, expressed gratitude for the support received from both the local community and natives living abroad in carrying out various projects.
