# Documentary performance: Lilia Neagu and Asa Andruh's stories of defiance against the Soviet regime, presented at Parliament

The documentary performance "The Night Written in Red", directed by Luminița Țâcu and featuring actors from the "Teatrul Fără Nume", will be presented on September 25, starting at 7:00 PM, in the square of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. Admission to the event is free.

The play draws public attention to a period marked by the repression of the Soviet totalitarian regime and follows the lives of two young women, Lilia Neagu and Asea Andruh. The production speaks of freedom, resistance, and the courage to freely express one's convictions during a time when the collapse of the Soviet Union seemed unimaginable.

*"The play highlights a significant chapter in the history of the Republic of Moldova and speaks of the courage to think freely, of resistance, and of the price of freedom,"* states a press release from the Parliament.

Through documentary theater, the audience will witness testimonies and lives affected by the Soviet totalitarian regime, as well as the persecution directed at individuals who freely expressed their convictions.

The event is part of a series of activities dedicated to the International Day of Democracy and falls within a ten-day period commemorating tragic moments in the history of the Republic of Moldova. These include the 85th anniversary of the first wave of Stalinist deportations and the 80th anniversary of the onset of the orchestrated famine.

The Parliament notes that the play also promotes democratic values and preserves historical memory. *"By organizing this performance, the Parliament aims to contribute to preserving historical memory and promoting democratic values, freedom, and human dignity,"* the statement reads. According to the institution, understanding the past is important for grasping the value of freedom and for strengthening a society where fundamental rights and freedoms are respected.

The performance is organized by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and the "Teatrul Fără Nume" of the "Ginta Latină" Culture and Art Center.

The event will take place on September 25 at 7:00 PM in the Parliament Square, and admission is free.
