# Cimișlia bypass: 7 km of new road, over 43 million euros invested

> The town of Cimișlia will be relieved of heavy and transit traffic from the M3 route. A contract was signed for the construction of a new road section spanning over 7 kilometers on the outskirts of the town; the new road is set to divert some of the heavy traffic that currently passes through the locality.

The town of Cimișlia will be relieved of heavy and transit traffic from the M3 route. A contract was signed for the construction of a new road section spanning over 7 kilometers on the outskirts of the town; the new road is set to divert some of the heavy traffic that currently passes through the locality.

According to the authorities, the new road will reduce town traffic, noise, and risks to residents while facilitating freight and passenger travel along the Chișinău–Comrat–Giurgiulești–Romanian border route.

*"The M3 is a vital road connecting the center and south of the country, running along the Chișinău–Comrat–Giurgiulești–Romanian border route. Both passenger and freight transport travel this route, and the new bypass will make transit more efficient. This is an investment that will benefit the residents of Cimișlia as well as the drivers and transport operators using this route"*, stated Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, at the contract signing ceremony.

**Two bridges and three grade-separated intersections**

The project entails the construction of over 7 kilometers of new road, two bridges, and three grade-separated intersections.

The project will also install road safety features, including lighting, safety barriers, road markings, and signage.

The investment totals €43.3 million, with funding from the European Investment Bank.

The Turkish company *ONUR Taahhüt Taşımacılık İnşaat Ticaret Ve Sanayi A.Ş.* will carry out the works under the contract signed with the National Roads Administration.

Construction of the bypass road is scheduled to take approximately two and a half years.
