A Border Police officer was injured by a projectile that landed near the Palanca-Maiaki-Udobnoe border crossing point following Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure on October 5. The projectile ricocheted off the ground and struck a passenger bus that was stationary near the barrier. No other casualties were reported.

The incident occurred around 09:38 and temporarily suspended operations at the border crossing point.

According to preliminary information provided by the Border Police, the projectile damaged the bus and the control booth. A Border Police officer sustained minor injuries.

The Border Police, in coordination with the Customs Service, continue to monitor the situation to manage it effectively and maintain contact with the relevant Ukrainian authorities.

Citizens are urged to avoid traveling to this area. If they hear sounds characteristic of drones or explosions near the border, they are asked to remain calm, take shelter indoors in a safe place, and rely solely on information provided by the authorities.

Furthermore, the public is asked not to approach any potential wreckage from aircraft, munitions, or other unidentified objects, and to immediately notify the authorities via the 112 emergency service.

Due to the incident, road traffic from the intersection of the R-30 and R-31 routes (Ștefan Vodă district) towards Palanca has been temporarily suspended while documentation and examination procedures are completed.

Patrol officers are redirecting traffic toward Tudora. Drivers are advised to avoid the area.

Six drones flew over the airspace of the Republic of Moldova on the morning of Saturday, October 3; five of them crashed and exploded within the country's territory. Debris was found in four districts, and vegetation fires and property damage occurred in two localities. The sixth drone entered Moldovan airspace near Palanca at 8:04 AM and left the country's territory one minute later.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, over 90 Russian drones and missiles have illegally flown through the Republic of Moldova's airspace. Recently, the Russian Federation's designated ambassador to Chișinău, Oleg Ozerov, admitted for the first time that the drones illegally entering Moldovan airspace and exploding on the country's territory are of Russian manufacture.

On October 1, Ozerov was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was handed a note of protest after three Russian drones flew over Moldovan airspace during attacks on Ukraine on September 30. On October 2, before the parliamentary session, the Speaker of Parliament, Igor Grosu, did not rule out adopting additional measures against the Russian diplomat. When asked if these might include Ozerov's expulsion, Grosu replied that "anything is possible."
