Starting Monday, October 12, cancer patients in northern Moldova can receive chemotherapy at the Bălți Clinical Hospital. According to the Ministry of Health, the new service brings treatment closer to home, sparing patients the need to travel to Chișinău.

The institution will administer treatments in accordance with national clinical protocols and all safety requirements.

The treatment indication and regimen will be determined by the multidisciplinary council of the Oncology Institute, following the patient's initial assessment and, where applicable, subsequent re-evaluation.

Only therapies that can be performed under conditions of complete safety will be administered at the Bălți Clinical Hospital.

Representatives of the Ministry of Health state that, prior to the launch of the new service, medical staff in Bălți received training on chemotherapy administration, patient monitoring, and the management of potential adverse reactions.

A similar model for providing oncological treatment is already in place at district hospitals in Briceni, Cahul, Florești, Orhei, Sângerei, Ștefan Vodă, Anenii Noi, and Soroca.

The Ministry of Health announced it will continue expanding these services across the country. They will be launched only in medical facilities that possess trained personnel, the necessary technical capabilities, and optimal safety conditions.
