On October 13, the Republic of Moldova will officially open accession negotiations with the European Union for two additional clusters of chapters: "Internal Market" and "Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth." All 27 EU member states confirmed the decision on Monday, October 12, and agreed to convene the fourth Moldova–EU Intergovernmental Conference. Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov made the announcement.

The meeting will take place in Luxembourg and will mark the official opening of negotiations for Cluster 2 (Internal Market) and Cluster 3 (Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth).

According to Cristina Gherasimov, the 27 member states' agreement marks a new step in the Republic of Moldova's European integration process.

*"This decision confirms the member states' unanimous support for the Republic of Moldova's accession to the EU and acknowledges the progress our country has made,"* the Deputy Prime Minister stated.

The Intergovernmental Conference will begin at 21:00 (Republic of Moldova time). A joint press conference is scheduled for 22:00, featuring European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos and Irish Minister for European Affairs Thomas Byrne. Public TV channel Moldova 1 will broadcast the event live.

The accession process comprises 33 negotiating chapters, grouped into six clusters. To date, the Republic of Moldova has opened two of these. The first, "Fundamentals," opened in June, while the "External Relations" chapter opened in July.
