Speaking at a joint press briefing on Monday marking Chisinau City Day, Deputy Prime Minister and Infrastructure Minister Vladimir Bolea announced that total projects supervised by his ministry stand at roughly €153.8 million (approx. 3 billion MDL). The executive's targeted interventions prioritize micro-urban infrastructure often bypassed by municipal funding.

**Bridging the Soviet-era infrastructure gap**

Under the "European Courtyard" initiative, authorities have approved 469 funding applications worth €117.9 million (approx. 2.3 billion MDL). Work is actively underway across 70 residential courtyards with an allocated budget exceeding €17.9 million (approx. 350 million MDL), while another 27 will enter procurement next year.

*“When we initiated the European Courtyard program, I remember telling residents that stepping onto the new pavement put them in 2025, but stepping half a meter to the side kept them in 1991,”* Bolea said. He highlighted that Soviet-era rusted structures and decaying roads are being converted into modern communal spaces, despite recurring public procurement delays caused by limited contractor capacity.

Beyond residential areas, state programs including European Village have funded 82 regional projects around the capital, such as sewage networks in Ghidighici and wastewater facilities in Stauceni. The government is also finalizing reconstruction plans for the historic Bessarabian Gubernial Zemstvo building in central Chisinau to bolster regional tourism.

**Upgrading capital schools and diagnostic clinics**

Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun stated that state budget transfers account for nearly 90% of Chisinau's school and kindergarten financing, with €51.3 million (approx. 1 billion MDL) mobilized for institutional upgrades. These include 25 model schools earmarked for major overhauls and a €5.1 million (approx. 100 million MDL) program to renovate school cafeterias across the city.

Perciun urged the Chisinau City Hall, which manages municipal schools, to allocate matching municipal resources to tackle overcrowding rather than relying solely on central grants and foreign loans.

In healthcare, Health Minister Alexandru Gasnas reported that central and external investments in 24 Chisinau medical institutions topped €82.1 million (approx. 1.6 billion MDL) over the past four years. Upgrades include advanced CT scanners and expanded intensive care units at the Valentin Ignatenco and Gheorghe Paladi municipal hospitals, designed to eliminate patient transfers and reduce treatment wait times.
