"You can take a gentle shower today; the vaccine begins to protect the body within two weeks."

Maria Cernopîscaia arrived at the Soroca Health Center this morning to get vaccinated. She does this every year to protect herself against the virus and reduce the risk of falling ill during the cold season.

"I get vaccinated to protect myself from infections—after all, the 21st century is the century of infections—so it is all the more important that we pay attention to vaccination now," she says.

Other residents of Soroca followed her example.

*“I come every year to get vaccinated because I’m protecting my own health, and I have children at home.”*

*“I am a healthcare worker; I’m in a high-risk environment, so I get vaccinated every year.”*

*“I come every year to get vaccinated. I work with people, and this is how I protect myself—there are many viruses out there.”*

Individuals at high risk of illness are given priority for vaccination. This group includes pregnant women, people with underlying health conditions (comorbidities), and employees in sectors with an increased risk of infection.

"The flu is not simply a common cold; it is an infection that can lead to serious complications, including pneumonia. Therefore, we must prevent potential complications through seasonal flu vaccination," notes family physician Parascovia Robu.

"Patients are coming in to seek care. We have distributed vaccine doses to the villages served by the Soroca Health Center, and we are monitoring the situation," says nurse Elena Luța.

So far, 120,000 flu vaccine doses have arrived in the country, out of 240,000 procured for the 2026–2027 cold season. Data from the National Agency for Public Health show that over 4,000 cases of influenza were recorded during the previous cold season.
