Flying from Chișinău? Check New Airport Entry Rules

Effective May 1st, only passengers with valid boarding passes for scheduled flights will be granted access to the Chișinău International Airport terminal.

This new measure, implemented by the Border Police Inspectorate General (IGPF), aims to bolster security measures and prevent potential disruptions within the terminal.

In a recent press conference, IGPF Chief Ruslan Galușca emphasised the importance of this initiative in safeguarding aviation security at the airport. He urged Moldovan citizens to stay informed about the latest border crossing information by consulting the Border Police website and media outlets. This will allow them to make informed decisions regarding border crossing points and travel times, thereby minimising potential queuing and ensuring a smooth passage through border control.

The IGPF has also taken steps to augment the number of border police officers stationed at the Chișinău International Airport to ensure efficient passenger processing and a positive travel experience.

It is worth noting that similar access restrictions were implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, between September 11th and 22nd, 2023, terminal access was limited to airport personnel and individuals engaged in cross-border travel in connection with the transit of a large group of Israeli pilgrims travelling to Ukraine through Moldova.
