Kyiv was subjected to the most massive drone attack since the beginning of the war, BBC reports. As a result of the attack, a 41-year-old man died, the mayor of the capital of Ukraine, Vitali Kliciko, announced on Sunday, AFP reports.
According to the mayor, the Ukrainian military shot down 40 drones in Kiev. In total, Ukraine was attacked with 54 drones, of which 52 were shot down by the anti-aircraft system.
The mayor described the new attack as "massive" and urged the population to stay sheltered, warning that new waves of drones are expected to hit Kiev "from several directions at once".
A fire also broke out at the headquarters of a company in the Holosiivskii district, he added. The Ukrainian capital was attacked with drones on a regular basis in May.
The head of the local civil and military administration, Serhii Popko, on Friday counted "13 night attacks" since the beginning of the month.
