Dorin Recean: "The government is looking for alternative suppliers and possibilities to reduce the cost of natural gas"
The current price of natural gas is dictated by the need to compensate for price deviations and it is not fair that this price difference is only covered by some businesses and household consumers. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Dorin Recean after information emerged that some companies benefit from special prices for gas consumption.
"The government is monitoring this situation and will intervene. A decision in this regard will be taken on Wednesday by the Commission for Exceptional Situations (...) At the same time, as I said earlier, the Government is looking for alternative suppliers and possibilities to reduce the cost of natural gas and I am sure we will have good news for all consumers in the shortest possible time," Dorin Recean said.
The other day, Prime Minister Dorin Recean admitted that some economic agents buy natural gas at a price of 13 lei per cubic meter, while citizens pay around 30 lei. The chief executive also said that the government will procure cheaper natural gas starting next week and, in this context, the authorities will ask for a decrease in the natural gas tariff.
