The new governor of the Gagauz autonomy visited Șor in Israel
A week after the Comrat Court of Appeal validated the results of the elections in the Gagauz Autonomy, the newly-elected governor, Evghenia Gutul, visited Israel, where she met the leader of the "Sor" party, Ilan Sor, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The fugitive Șor wrote on social media that he discussed with Guțul the situation in the region and how the newly-elected governor will fulfil her electoral promises. In the context, he says he will find solutions to increase public sector employees' salaries and pensions from September 1.
The Central Electoral Commission has recently launched eight criminal cases against the illegal financing of electoral candidates.
Law enforcement officers also raided the Comrat Electoral Council on 16 May and collected electoral lists, which allegedly included people who had died or were abroad on election day and are now being examined.
According to data announced by the autonomy's electoral council, Evghenia Guțul received 27,376 votes, while her opponent, Grigori Uzun, received 24,913 votes. The election results were validated by the Comrat Court of Appeal.
