Kiev, target of a new massive drone attack. Fires and casualties reported
More than 20 Russian air targets were shot down in Kiev during a Russian drone strike on Monday night. Ukrainian authorities have reported damage, fires and casualties as a result of drone fragments falling in different parts of the city, RBC reports.
Last night's Russian airstrike on the Ukrainian capital was the 17th since the beginning of May. "The attack was massive, in different directions, in several waves. The air raid alert lasted almost three hours" - Serhi Popko, the head of the Kiev military administration, reported. He added that in the last 24 hours the Russian Federation had already carried out three attacks on the Ukrainian capital.
The official also noted that Russia is constantly changing the weapons with which it attacks Ukraine: after the combined attack with missiles and drones, and then with ballistic missiles last night, only drones were launched.
"The enemy continues to attack the capital. Last night, explosions were heard in many parts of the city. One person was killed" - also reported Mayor Vitali Klicko.
In the Holosiivski district, due to falling drone debris on a multi-storey residential building, a fire broke out on the top two floors of the block. More than 20 residents were evacuated.
In the Dnipro district, drone fragments fell on a green space, while in the Podilsk district, non-residential buildings were damaged. In the Svyatoshinsk district, drone fragments shot down by air defence fell on the territory of an enterprise.
The Russian military strikes Kiev daily, using both Shahed attack drones and missiles. The Ukrainian Air Force believes that the Russian Federation has managed to accumulate resources and step up its nightly missile and drone attacks.
