New EU civilian mission in the Republic of Moldova will be inaugurated today in Chisinau
The new civilian mission of the European Union in the Republic of Moldova will be inaugurated today in Chisinau by the High Representative of the EU for foreign affairs and security policy, Josep Borrell, together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, and the Minister of the Interior, Ana Revenco.
On this occasion, the European official, in the presence of the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi, will hand over new equipment provided by the EU to the armed forces of the Republic of Moldova, informs the European External Action Service. We remind you that, on May 22, the European Union approved the launch of the Civilian Mission in the Republic of Moldova. It was officially created on May 24 and aims to help strengthen our country's crisis management structures and to increase resilience to hybrid threats, including cyber security and combating foreign information manipulation and interference.
Also today, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is coming to Chisinau, who will meet with the head of state, Maia Sandu. At 17:00, the two officials will give press statements, which Radio Moldova will broadcast live.
We remind that tomorrow, June 1, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, will participate in the second meeting of the European Political Community, together with about 50 other heads of state and of government. The meeting will take place in Bulboaca.
