Officials from 78 countries attend Recep Tayyip Erdogan's inauguration
Turkey's newly-elected President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will be sworn in on Saturday 3 June after his victory in the presidential election. Guests from 78 countries are expected to attend the ceremony, reports Anadolu Agency.
In particular, 21 heads of state and 13 prime ministers, representatives of parliaments, ministers and representatives of international organisations await Erdogan's inauguration. Among others, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will arrive in Ankara. The chairman of the State Duma, Veaceslav Volodin, is also coming from Russia.
Erdogan will be sworn in at Turkey's Grand National Assembly at 2pm and ceremonies at the presidential complex will begin at 5pm, followed by a gala dinner with top guests at Cankaya Palace.
After dinner, Erdogan will announce the composition of the new government.
In the second round of the presidential elections on 28 May, Erdogan defeated his opponent, opposition candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu, with a result of 52.18%.
