The Republic of Moldova will be ready to start accession negotiations by the end of this year, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, told Radio Moldova. According to the official, our country will have to convince the leaders of the member states of the European Union that it has fulfilled all the recommendations of the European Commission, although there are still delays in the justice sector.

"Our goal is to initially convince the European Commission and then each member state of the European Union that the Republic of Moldova deserves to start accession negotiations to the European Union by the end of this year. The main stages of this process are October, when the European Commission will publish the report that evaluates the progress of the Republic of Moldova and in that report the European Commission must determine whether or not the Republic of Moldova has sufficiently fulfilled the recommendations", explained Nicu Popescu.

We remind you that the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, after the Summit of the European Political Community held on June 1 in Bulboaca, declared that the place of the Republic of Moldova is in Europe. The country has taken concrete steps in this direction and accession negotiations could begin this year. But, according to the official, the moment of accession also depends on the political context.
