Russia and NATO are conducting simultaneous military exercises in the Baltic Sea
More than 3,500 military personnel, about 40 ships, 25 aircraft and helicopters participate in the applications of the Russian Federation. According to Russian media, they will perform tasks of protection and defense of maritime communications and fleet base points. The Russian exercise will end on June 15.
Also, Russia is conducting military exercises in the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk, which also began today and will continue until June 20.
"More than 60 warships and support ships", about 35 aircraft, coastal troops and more than 11 thousand military personnel will be involved in the exercise.
Also, NATO's annual Baltic Operations began a day earlier and brought together 19 alliance members and candidate country Sweden. About six thousand soldiers, 50 ships and about 45 aircraft are involved in the exercise.
Alliance militaries will practice anti-submarine, anti-aircraft and anti-mine operations and work with underwater and surface drones. NATO naval military applications will end on June 16.
