Record number of seasonal flu cases registered in the Republic of Moldova
In the last week, a record number of seasonal flu cases was registered in the Republic of Moldova. According to ANSP, a total of 103 cases were confirmed.
The most cases were registered in the capital, 76 in number. In Balti, 12 people fell ill with the flu, in Fălești - four people, and in Ialoveni and Edineț - three and two, respectively. In Drochia, Leova, Orhei, Sângerei, Soroca and Ungheni, one case of flu was registered each in the last seven days.
Also during this period, the number of virus cases increased by 37.2%, compared to the previous week. In total, over 13 thousand cases of acute upper tract infections were registered, most of them in children.
The share of cases of severe acute respiratory infections in the total number of hospitalizations in medical institutions, regardless of the cause, varied between 2.9% - 4.8%.
In this context, ANSP announces that the process of immunization against seasonal flu continues in public medical and sanitary institutions in the country. Doctors recommend simultaneous vaccination against the seasonal flu and the infection caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
