Parliament ratifies the agreements with Romania: Three road bridges over the Prut will be modernized

The Parliament ratified three agreements with the Government of Romania regarding the modernization of the bridges over the Prut River, which connect the Republic of Moldova and Romania. The Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Lilia Dabija, said in the plenary session of the Parliament that two bridges will be rehabilitated and another one will be built in Leușeni-Albita.

According to the agreements, the road bridges from Cahul-Oancea and Sculeni-Sculeni will be renovated and a new bridge will be built at Leușeni-Albita. The road bridges were built between 1958 and 1964 and are currently in a deplorable state.

The technical expertise showed that all three bridges require rehabilitation work and replacement of some elements. Moreover, in the case of the Sculeni-Sculeni bridge, defects and degradations were detected in the construction.

According to the agreements, Romania will finance the modernization and maintenance of the bridges on its territory, and the Republic of Moldova will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of the sections on its territory.
