Veronica Dragalin: At PA and CNA we have corrupt people who are interested in creating a perception of chaos, they send information to fugitives
There are employees in the system who want to destabilize the activity of the two institutions, who send information from the investigation to some fugitives, announced this morning the head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, Veronica Dragalin. According to her, the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office and the National Anticorruption Center collaborate and have even made progress on resounding cases. The reaction comes after the scandal that appeared in the media with reference to a meeting in which prosecutors and criminal investigation officers from the CNA were allegedly intimidated by the anti-corruption chief.
It is absolutely normal that the heads of two institutions sometimes end up in a situation of misunderstanding, the head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, Veronica Dragalin, commented on the rumors that appeared on several anonymous Telegram channels about a conflict between her and the director of the National Anticorruption Center, Iulian Rusu.
According to her, on June 5, the weekly meeting of anti-corruption prosecutors took place, as a result of which false information about her appeared on some Telegram channels, and the situation presented in the public space was distorted. At the same time, the chief anti-corruption prosecutor mentions that there are corrupt employees at CNA who are still passing on information from the investigation to some fugitives, and in the last month more evidence has been accumulated in this regard.
"In the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office (PA) and in the CNA we have corrupt people who are interested in creating a perception of chaos, a perception that we do not understand each other, we are not professionals, that we do not work on criminal cases. I want to assure you that these attempts to create such an impression are happening because the people who deal with this kind of thing are scared, because lately PA together with CNA have succeeded in infiltrating people at the highest levels in organized criminal groups. In the last weeks we managed to accumulate evidence on resounding cases, we understand much better who the groups are, on the inside, who works for our fugitives in the country, how they work, who they are connected with", said Veronica Dragalin.
Contacted by phone by Radio Moldova for a reaction, the director of CNA, Iulian Rusu, did not answer our calls. The press service said it would return later with details. The representatives of the National Anticorruption Center told us yesterday that they want this situation to be overcome, so that efforts can be focused on advancing the cases they manage.
We remind you that, the other days, more information appeared in the media about the fact that Veronica Dragalin summoned to a meeting the prosecutors and criminal investigation officers from the CNA whom she allegedly accused of corruption.
Recently, at a meeting in the plenary session of the Parliament, the director of the CNA, Iulian Rusu, spoke about the misunderstandings between the General Prosecutor's Office, the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office and the CNA. At the time, the two prosecutor's offices rejected the accusations in a joint press release, in which they accused the head of the CNA of "irresponsibility and manipulation". President Maia Sandu asked the leaders of the CNA and the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office not to compromise the fight against corruption.
