A team of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Interior, consisting of 56 rescuers and firefighters with 12 technical units, will participate in the large-scale international field exercise "TbiEX Georgia - 2023". The exercise will take place from 10 to 21 June 2023 in the city of Tbilisi, Georgia.
"The applications are organised within the framework of the Programme in the field of prevention, preparedness and response to natural and man-made disasters in the Eastern area (PPRD EAST-3). The scenario of the exercise provides for the training and improvement of firefighters from the Republic of Moldova in the field of forest fire liquidation with the help of specialised intervention techniques," IGSU says.
The rescuers left this morning by land to Georgia. During the applications the participants will work with specialists and representatives of the European Union Civil Protection team, which will manage and coordinate the actions of the international forces and means involved in the exercise.
The IGSU stresses that the exercise provides an opportunity to train Moldovan firefighters' capabilities to European standards, with a view to their participation in international natural emergency response missions.
The participation of the IGSU team in the large-scale regional field exercise "TbiEX Georgia - 2023" is part of the series of actions through which Moldovan rescuers and firefighters are preparing to join the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
