German Chancellor intends to hold talks with the President of the Russian Federation

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz plans to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin soon, according to international media. Scholz said he also spoke to the Kremlin leader shortly after he ordered the invasion of Ukraine.

"I intend to do this again soon," Scholz said at the 38th Congress of the Protestant Church in the southern German city of Nuremberg.

According to the German chancellor, Putin must understand that a precondition for a "just peace" is that Russia withdraws its troops from Ukraine.

Scholz has previously spoken about Berlin's position on Russia's war against Ukraine and said that escalation of the conflict must be prevented.
