UK: Boris Johnson has announced his resignation as an MP
Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is also resigning as an MP. According to the BBC, the decision was made after the Partygate report was published, which examined whether the politician misled the British parliament after holding a party in 2020 when the UK was in lockdown over the COVID-19 pandemic.
Boris Johnson accused the parliamentary committee of trying to drive him out, but in the hearings, he admitted that he did mislead parliament, but that he may not have done so intentionally. With his resignation, elections will be held in his constituency.
Boris Johnson was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2019-2022.
