A freight train derailed in the Belgorod region on the border with Ukraine

Fifteen wagons of an empty freight train derailed in the Belgorod region of southern Russia on the border with Ukraine, the local governor announced yesterday evening, adding that there was no information yet on the cause of the accident, Reuters reports.

According to preliminary information, there were no casualties. Explosions and attacks on infrastructure in the Belgorod region have become almost a daily occurrence in recent weeks. Russian officials blame either Ukrainian forces or pro-Ukrainian saboteurs.

Ukraine has not publicly claimed responsibility for attacks on Russian territory or on Russian-controlled territory in Ukraine.
