Dorin Recean, meeting with Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu: EU accession and security challenges on the agenda of discussions

Moldova's accession to the European Union, strengthening security and Moldova's cooperation with Romania were discussed at the meeting of Prime Minister Dorin Recean with his Romanian counterpart Marcel Ciolacu, government spokesman Daniel Voda told Radio Moldova.

"The officials discussed the subject of Moldova's accession to the EU, security challenges in the region and other issues of interest for the bilateral relations between Moldova and Romania. Also, one of the topics discussed by the officials was the economic cooperation between the two countries, including the support Romania is offering to the Republic of Moldova on the way to our accession to the European Union, as well as the security challenges that arose with the unjustified invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. At the same time, they also discussed joint projects on the agenda of the Chisinau and Bucharest executives", said Daniel Voda.

Dorin Recean is the first head of government Marcel Ciolacu has discussed since his inauguration as Prime Minister of Romania.

On 17 June, Prime Minister Dorin Recean visited Bucharest.

Romania's new Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, who was sworn in last week, gave assurances that Romania will continue to support Moldova's European course and efforts to maintain security and stability in the country.

He also said that Romania will maintain its position on the Russian Federation's war in Ukraine and will become a central pillar in Ukraine's reconstruction process.
