Maia Sandu: "The transformation of Moldova into a European country requires several stages, a lot of work and many changes"
The Republic of Moldova benefits from the greatest help on its way to join the European Union, declared the head of state Maia Sandu, one year after obtaining the status of a candidate country for joining the EU. The head of state claims that thanks to the support given by the European partners, the living conditions of the citizens are improved.
"We manage to improve conditions in schools and kindergartens, to modernize roads, tp build bridges, water and sewage networks, renovate cultural centers and strengthen the capacity of our institutions to ensure the peace and security of our citizens. We all understand that the transformation of Moldova into a European country requires several stages, a lot of work and many changes, but with each stage, year by year, we are getting closer to the moment when we will become a European state. And we will be proud of what we have done for our country and our children", said Maia Sandu.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, noted that this year was "full of outstanding achievements and progress" in the process of deoligarization, consolidation of justice and development of administrative capacities.
We remind you that, on March 4, 2022, the leadership of the Republic of Moldova submitted the application for accession to the European Union.
On June 23, the European Council decides to grant the Republic of Moldova the status of a candidate country for accession, the authorities in Chisinau assuming commitments regarding the fight against the phenomenon of corruption, the reform of justice, the functioning of democratic institutions.
