MEP Siegfried Muresan: "The Republic of Moldova is on the way to the European Union!"

One year after obtaining the status of a candidate country for accession to the European Union, the Republic of Moldova has advanced in fulfilling the nine conditionalities formulated by the European Commission and is at a fairly good level of their implementation, experts claim. In their opinion, all commitments could be fulfilled in July-August, so that our country obtains a favorable decision from the member states of the European Union and accession negotiations are opened this year.

MEP Siegfried Mureșan is of the same opinion, who made a post on Facebook on the occasion of one year since the Republic of Moldova was granted the status of a candidate country and notes that "the Republic of Moldova is on the way to the European Union!".

"Today it turns one year since the historic decision by which the Republic of Moldova became a candidate country for the European Union. A historic decision that offers its citizens the prospect of Moldova becoming a full member state of the EU." The MEP reveals that, in the last year, the authorities of the Republic of Moldova have made important progress on the nine recommendations said by the European Commission in the opinion regarding the granting of candidate country status.

"Important reforms have been made in justice, in the protection of human rights, in the fight against corruption. All these results are remarkable especially because they were obtained despite all the economic and security challenges we are all facing due to the war waged by Russia in Ukraine", stressed MEP Siegfried Muresan.

He made a call to the European institutions and to the EU member states:

"These advances prove that the Republic of Moldova is ready, in certain chapters, with more support from our side, to start negotiations for accession to the European Union. That's why my call to the European institutions and to the member states is: "let's start accession negotiations on those chapters by the end of this year."

Siegfried Muresan sent congratulations on the occasion of this anniversary:

"One year after receiving the candidate state status, my message to the Republic of Moldova and its citizens is "Congratulations, you are on the way to the European Union!""

30 rescuers from the Republic of Moldova participated in a search and rescue operations training program

A team of 30 rescuers from the Republic of Moldova recently participated in a basic training program dedicated to urban search and rescue team training. The training activities were guided by six experts from the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Agency. During the courses, the Moldovan rescuers were familiarized with the good practices and experiences gained by their colleagues from Turkey. The course completion ceremony ended with the handing out of qualification certificates and diplomas of merit.
