Wagner chief, message after Vladimir Putin's speech on the situation in Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin is "deeply mistaken" when he accuses the fighters of the Wagner mercenary group of "treason", Evgeni Prigojin said today, adding that his troops do not intend to surrender, international press agencies report, according to Agerpres.

“As for 'treason', the president was dead wrong. We are patriots. We fought and we will fight. No one is going to surrender at the request of the president, the FSB or anyone else," Prigozhin said in an audio recording released after Putin's TV speech on Saturday morning.

"Now they are not sparing anything, they are hitting the columns of civilians with helicopters and planes. They hit civilians because they don't aim and hit without a target, for this reason, we are patriots, and those who oppose us are the ones who have gathered around the miserables," he added.

Prigojin also stated in the recording that he and his people no longer want the country to live with corruption, lies and bureaucracy, reports Reuters.

We note that the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, gave a televised speech in which he accused Yevgeny Prigozhin of treason, after the mercenaries of the Wagner group took control of the harsh military command in Rostov-on-Don.

Vladimir Putin appealed "to the Russians, the military and law enforcement agencies and those who have been pushed down the path of armed rebellion by deception and threats." He called the Wagner group's actions "a stab in the back" and compared the situation to October 1917.
