Nicu Popescu: In the EU accession process, Croatia will help us prepare the public administration

The Republic of Moldova appreciates the role of Croatia in the distribution of the network of energy resources on a regional level. The statement belongs to the Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicu Popescu, who is on a working visit to Zagreb. The head of diplomacy from Chisinau says that he communicated the interest of our country "for even closer cooperation for the potential import of natural gas in the future."

"I also said in Zagreb - the Russian bombing of the energy infrastructure in Ukraine affects the Republic of Moldova. We had several missiles that violated our airspace and we had several situations when a good part and even the majority of the territory of the Republic of Moldova was without light due to the Russian bombings on Ukraine", said Nicu Popescu after the meeting he had with his Croatian counterpart Gordan Grlić-Radman. "Even in this difficult situation, we as a country continue to look optimistically into the future thanks to the support of our European partners, thanks to the EU, thanks to Croatia, we are moving forward in consolidating democracy, energy security and ensuring peace on our territory", said the Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs. Nicu Popescu expressed his gratitude for the Croatian support in offering the Republic of Moldova a candidate country for joining the European Union and for participating in the Support Platform of the Republic of Moldova. "In the process of accession, Croatia will help us prepare the public administration for the long path of reforms that awaits us," said Nicu Popescu. According to the head of diplomacy from Chisinau, Moldovan-Croatian trade has a very good dynamic, adding that the parties want to expand commercial relations. "We have an open dialogue with businessmen from Croatia in such fields as IT, tourism, the pharmaceutical field, which will bring benefits to the citizens of both states in the future", said Minister Nicu Popescu on his Facebook page.
