Memorandum regarding the launch of the Program "Valuing the potential of migration in the Republic of Moldova", signed: What does the document provide

The memorandum of understanding regarding the official launch of the Program "Valuing the potential of migration in the Republic of Moldova", phase III, was signed. The document provides for the technical assistance from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) to support a series of actions in the coming period, reads a statement from the Government.

"The overall objective of the Program is to improve the standard of living of Moldovan citizens, benefiting from a more inclusive, accountable, responsive and evidence-based governance, as well as increased participation of migrants/diaspora in the sustainable development of their country of origin ", the statement states.

The program includes several projects: "Support for the governance of Diaspora, Migration and Development by strengthening political and institutional frameworks" implemented by the State Chancellery through BRD; "Consolidation of social cohesion through inclusive participation" (STRONG), implemented by UNDP Moldova; "Strengthening data governance through reliable and disaggregated demographic data for central and local authorities", implemented by UNFPA Moldova.

The Secretary of State of the State Chancellery, Adrian Bălutel, declared that in the third phase of the program, important objectives will be achieved to capitalize on migration.

"Everything related to migration is important to us. The State Chancellery will strengthen its cooperation efforts with partners and will honor its commitments regarding the implementation of the activities provided for in the project", said Adrian Băluțel. For his part, SDC's director of cooperation, Guido Beltrani, stated that remarkable results have been recorded so far.

"It is important to strengthen and institutionalize the Diaspora Relations Office, as well as to include a new policy component. We intend to carry out as many projects as possible with a practical aspect at the local level", said Guido Beltrani.

We mention that the Program "Valuing the migration potential in the Republic of Moldova", phase III, will be implemented between June 2023 and December 2026.
