The President of the National Assembly of France gave a speech in the plenary session of the Parliament in Chisinau: "Yes, the Republic of Moldova is modernizing"

The Republic of Moldova is modernising, transforming, preparing to enter the European Union, and France welcomes the efforts, declared from the central tribune of the Parliament in Chisinau, the president of the National Assembly of the French Republic, Yaël Braun-Pivet. The official welcomed our country's European integration efforts and emphasised the fact that France remains a solid supporter on the way to the EU.

"Yes, the Republic of Moldova is modernizing, transforming, preparing to enter the European Union, and France welcomes its efforts: those it has already achieved and those it must undertake to implement the nine recommendations of the European Commission. The Commission's recent verbal assessment of the progress made by your country is also very positive and I am happy about that," added Yaël Braun-Pivet.

Also, the President of the National Assembly of the French Republic spoke about the challenges our country is facing in the context of the war in Ukraine.

"In the presence of such dangers, your country represents an advanced space of democracy and law, and I want to express my admiration and my support. Despite pressure and threats, despite blackmail and disinformation, your country has stayed the course, defending both its nascent democracy and its sovereignty. You are not alone in this fight!” added Yaël Braun-Pivet.

For his part, the President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, mentioned that, through joint efforts, the Parliament together with the Government managed to maintain peace and stability, continue the implementation of reforms, advance on the road to the European Union.

"The Republic of Moldova has firmly stepped on the European path, and joining the European Union is a goal that we see clearly and that we will achieve without delay. As the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, said at the EPC Summit - Moldova's accession to the EU is not only achievable, but a fact to be fulfilled", emphasized Igor Grosu.

The president of the National Assembly of France, Yaël Braun-Pivet, is making an official visit to the Republic of Moldova, from June 29 to July 1. It is the first visit to the Republic of Moldova by a President of the National Assembly of France in the 31 years since the establishment of Moldovan-French diplomatic relations.
