Romania unlocks €100 million grant to Moldova
Romania is today releasing the first tranche of a €100 million grant to Moldova. The announcement was made by the Prime Minister in Bucharest, Marcel Ciolacu.
"Today we are releasing the first tranche of the €100 million agreement we have with the Republic of Moldova. The money goes to school buses and to investments in water supply works in several localities in the Republic of Moldova", said Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.
On 11 February 2022, the Agreement on the implementation of the technical and financial assistance programme between the Republic of Moldova and Romania was signed. This is a €100 million grant offered by the Romanian Government. According to the Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and Romania, the money will be allocated by the Government of Bucharest as non-reimbursable assistance over a period of 7 years, and the Republic of Moldova must come up with a financial contribution of not less than 5% of the expenses of each project.
