Maia Sandu sent condolences to the families of the victims at the airport: "It is a sad day for all of us"
President Maia Sandu sent a message of condolences to the families and relatives of the two people who died in the incident at Chisinau International Airport.
"Today at the airport there was a serious incident in which a foreign citizen, who was refused entry into the country by the Moldovan authorities, shot dead two people - a border policeman and an airport security employee. We send our sincere condolences to the bereaved families and relatives - the loss of loved ones is an immeasurable pain for families. It is a sad day for all of us."
According to the head of state, state institutions are on heightened alert, police and law enforcement agencies are mobilized throughout the Republic of Moldova.
On 30 June, an armed incident took place at Chisinau International Airport after a foreign citizen was denied entry to Moldova.
During his escort to the sterile area to be returned, he grabbed a border policeman's gun and fatally wounded 2 people.
