The CEC has set the date of the local general elections

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) set the date for the general local elections at its meeting on Tuesday, 4 July. They will be held on 5 November 2023.

The decision will enter into force on 7 August 2023, when the election period begins.

According to the CEC, the election campaign will start on the date of registration of the electoral contestants, but not earlier than 30 days before the voting day.

"In the coming period, the CEC will draw up and approve the Calendar Programme for the implementation of actions for the organisation and conduct of the general local elections, which will contain the actions to be undertaken for the organisation of the elections, the deadlines for their implementation, as well as the persons responsible for each action based on the competences of the main subjects involved in the electoral process," the CEC statement added.
