Dorin Recean asks the Ministry of Finance to identify new financial resources for the implementation of the "European Village Express" project
The demand for applying to the "European Village Express" programme is much higher than the available financial resources, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said at today's Cabinet meeting. In this context, the official asked the Ministry of Finance to identify additional funding resources. So far, 680 projects have been submitted.
"I am glad that mayors have found this important project that helps localities, citizens and understand that the demand is much higher than the available funding. In this regard, Ms Rosca I will ask you to identify additional resources and together with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development we can meet more requests. Let us have an exercise of additional evaluation of projects that have been submitted, but at this stage have not passed and by next Wednesday add, to the extent of the financial possibilities identified, to have additional evaluation and additional projects".
At the same time, Dorin Recean recalled that last week, the Government in Bucharest approved a decision offering our country a grant of 10 million euros, in addition to the 100 million. The money will be used to finance projects under the "European Village" programme and to purchase school buses.
At the end of April, President Maia Sandu announced the launch of the "European Village Express" project, aimed at speeding up the development of localities. The head of state asked the executive to make the new programme more accessible to participants.
