Maia Sandu on 500 days of war in Ukraine: 'Ukraine will win. Otherwise it cannot be"

Moldovan President Maia Sandu came with a message on the 500th anniversary of Russia's brutal war against Ukraine. "500 days since the peaceful people, sleeping in their homes, living on their land, were woken up by bomb blasts and howling tanks. Innocent people executed and left to decompose in the streets or thrown into the mass grave. At Bucha, at Irpin, at Hostomel, at Borodianka. Women raped and children killed or maimed by bombs," said Maia Sandu.

President Maia Sandu noted that the lives of peaceful people in Ukraine have been radically changed because of this war. "Those in power, women and men, have taken up arms and are defending their country. Millions of mothers with children and the elderly have had to leave their homes and take shelter in basements, metro stations or flee to other parts of Ukraine or other countries. This brutal war is sowing death and terror. The invaders are destroying buildings and homes, bombing electricity grids, destroying water systems, devastating everything," the President said.

The head of state stressed that thanks to the courage of the Ukrainian military, thanks to the resistance of the civilian population, we have peace in Moldova. We also remain in solidarity with Ukraine and we will do everything we can to stand by them.

"Ukrainians are and will be welcome in our country. Our roads and railways will continue to carry Ukrainian products to their markets. As part of the international community, we will join efforts with Ukraine to hold Russia accountable for its war crimes. Ukraine will win. It cannot be otherwise. Ukrainians are the people of peace and we stand with them. Слава України!", said Maia Sandu.
