Massive Ukraine drone attack on key infrastructure in Kiev
Critical infrastructure in and around the Ukrainian capital was attacked by Russian forces early Monday, Ukrainian authorities announced. According to them, the air defense systems destroyed about 15 of the 20 drones aimed at Kyiv, informs Reuters.
Preliminary information provided by the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Kliciko, shows that Monday morning's attacks against the Ukrainian capital did not result in deaths or injuries.
"Following the attacks on the capital, essential infrastructure was damaged," Kliciko wrote on the Telegram application, quoted by Agerpres.
According to the source, in total, Russia used about 35 Iranian-made Shahed drones in the attacks launched against Ukraine on Monday, of which 30 were destroyed, the Ukrainian Air Force announced. According to the source, the drones were launched from the eastern shore of the Sea of Azov.
"According to the investigation, on December 19, 2022, following an attack on the Kyiv region, critical infrastructure was damaged by unmanned aerial vehicles. Information about victims and damages is specified," announced the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine, quoted by Unian.
Air raid sirens rang out for most of the night in and around Kyiv, with the Russian attacks ending around 07:50 local time.
